Today, Friday 7th July 2023, the Environment and Climate Change Amelioration Initiative – ECCAI, carried out the planting of one hectare ( comprising 230 assorted seedlings) of woodlot of indigenous endangered plant species at the Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University – JOSTUM, Makurdi, Benue State, North Central Nigeria.
The Vice Chancellor of JOSTUM, represented by the DVC Admin Prof Mrs. C.D Tuleun led the Dean of the College of Forestry and Fisheries, HODs of the Department of Social and Environmental Forestry, HOD Wildlife, academic/technical staff and students of the College to participate in the Tree Planting.
ECCAI with support from Women Environmental Program(WEP), through the Green Livelihood ( GLA), put together the planting exercise.
Restoring habitats and increasing the population of endangered plant species can help improve ecosystems’ health and resilience, reduce the risk of species loss, and promote biodiversity restoration.
This activity highlights the importance of sustainably managing our natural resources, focusing on planting trees to provide a better future for everyone .
