Environment and Climate Change Amelioration (ECCAI), in partnership with African Activists for climate justice (AACJ) and Education as Vaccine (EVA), the African Women’s Development & Communications Network (FEMNET) marked world environment day 2023 with a march from McCarthy Stadium to the Ministry of Water Resources and Environment Makurdi, Benue State, North Central Nigeria.
The march was to raise awareness about environmental issues, especially climate change & plastic pollution, & to call for action to reduce our reliance on single-use plastics and also key into recycling.
The marchers carried signs with slogans like “Beat Plastic Pollution” “Give us Climate Justice” and “Save Our Planet.” They also chanted slogans and sang songs about the importance of protecting the environment. The march ended at the Ministry of Water Resources and Environment, where the participants delivered a petition calling on the government to take action to reduce plastic pollution & other environmental consequences that affect vulnerable groups like women, youths & people with disabilities.
We are proud to have joined with other organizations to mark World Environment Day and to raise awareness about this important issue. We hope that our actions will inspire others to take action to protect our planet.
